Name: KT's Hick'ry Pit BBQ CommentsThere are three KT's outlets in the Boulder area (one is actually in Broomfield, between Boulder and Denver). They are all equally good. They offer the usual choices, but the items that stand out are the pork, the beans, and the coleslaw. The pork is very tender and has great smoky flavor. The beans have incredible flavor, likely due to the fact that they constantly add scraps of meat to the pot from the cutting board where they chop meat for sandwiches. They offer three different sauces, a mild ketchup based sauced, a medium vinegary, Memphis type sauce (my favorite), and a very spice vinegary sauce. The service is generally good, especially if the owners Kirk and Tricia (KT's, get it?) are working. THe atmosphere is appropriate for a BBQ Pit. They even serve some good beers!
Name: M&D's BBQ and Fish Place CommentsThis is the place we compare the others against. The ribs are excellent. They do serve everything with sauce which is okay by me but if you don't want it you will have to ask them to leave it off. The mild and medium sauce is excellent, beware of the hot. Mack Shead makes his own hot links, best I have had. Sides are very good the beans are my favorite but I haven't had a side I didn't like. And save room for peach cobbler or lemon pound cake. On Friday's only, the banana pudding is superb and this is also chicken day. The atmosphere is average joint type and don't go at night if you get nervous easily as the neighborhood is a little rough. Not bad but not for the weak at heart. Suits in the day time during the week. The celebs have enjoyed it Danny Glover says the fish is smokin but I haven't personally tried it. Enjoy.
