In the patio area around the building the aroma of hickory smoke was in the air. Upon entering the restaurant we were greated by friendly staff and taken to our seats. We had walked by the cooking area and I noticed an open fire pit area that was being used to keep items hot. I asked our waitress, who was also the manageress, if it would be possible to take a tour of the kitchen. She brought out Mike, the kitchen manager to talk to me. He said that after we had eaten he would take us on a tour. They use 2 Cookshack cookers and hickory wood for the smoke. Being as far North as this place is and the fact that there are no other smokehouses in the city, it would be safe to say, they are the best in town. The ribs were excellant, brisket very tender, pulled pork had lots of Mr. Brown and the 1/4 chicken was good. There was a lack of smoke ring, but that could be because of the electric heat source. The sauce was a tomato based sauce with a bit of a bite, that didn't overpower the meat. I would recommend this place to anyone travelling in the Winnipeg area. Name: BBQ-Bob's Comments If your ever in Kenora, Canada for the fishing you have to stop at this place. Located in an old log cabin on the shore of Rabbit Lake. this place rocks in the summer they have an outdoor deck and beach volleyball. they had excellant BBQ Beef Ribs, Pork Ribs, Chicken and some of the best chicken wings ever, they claim to sell a quarter million wings a year! and have the hottest suicide sauce I have ever tasted. Good atmosphere and excellant service.
Name: Memphis Comments The only joint in town, I believe they just opened a 2nd one on Commercial A. The Staff is very friendly, cute girls flirt with my son. The meat is very tender, but lacks flavor, could be due that they use gas smoker "Ole Hickory" We are not complaining, it's the only show in town
