Fresh Apple Bread

none

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups apples; (or more), pared &
-- chopped
2/3 cup nuts; chopped
1/2 teaspoon cloves; ground
1/2 teaspoon salt

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg; beat well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cloves and cinnamon. Add to shortening mixture; then stir in apples and nuts. Pour into 9" greased loaf pan.
