Japaleno-Cheddar-Orange-Juice Hushpuppies

2 cups white selfrising cornmeal
1 egg
1/4 cup fine chopped onions
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup fine chopped japaleno peppers
1 cup orange juice more if needed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 table sugar
